Early Mornings and Foreign Bodies

•March 19, 2010 • 2 Comments

So, I had a not-so-fantastic experience this morning involving our great nation’s healthcare system. I don’t know how the ER’s and hospitals are where you all live, but here in California, they’re probably worse than most other places.

My son woke me up this morning at 0530 whining about how his nose hurt. When I got up and finally got him calmed down enough to tell me what happened, he told me he got ‘part of his claw’ stuck in his nose.

Now, let me clarify. They’re not real claws.

My Uncle has this weird desire to do anything my kid asks him to, and often times that involves making various superhero paraphernalia out of paper. The ‘claws’ that he was talking about were a pair of Wolverine-like claws made out of paper.

After a quick home examination using the flash on my Storm’s camera as a flashlight, I determined where it was and made an attempt at retrieving it with a pair of tweezers. No such luck. Kid wouldn’t hold his head still, and when I looked again, I couldn’t find the paper.

So, panicking, I took him to the ER of our local County Hospital. after 5-10 minutes of intake, we waited for another 10 minutes (in an empty waiting room) to be seen by a nurse, who took all of Brenden’s vital signs. (35.4 lbs.)

The nurse, Cheryl, then took us to a curtain and we waited for another 15 minutes until the doctor we were *supposed* to see came over and said that someone would be with us in another 15 minutes.

Which was fine. The 30 second conversation I had with the man told me that he was probably a douche anyway.

After another 15 minutes, a very nice doctor came over and talked to us for a minute before pulling out the little flashlight they use to look in your ears and nose, only to tell me that Brenden *SWALLOWED* whatever had been in his nose.

$200 deposit wasted. Who knows how much the bill is gonna be.

For a 5 minute consult. I spent more time getting discharged than I did talking to the doctor.

I’m not happy.

Until next time, with a happier post,

Tuesday is Sunglasses Day

•March 16, 2010 • 2 Comments

So, most everyone knows that Tuesday is my favorite day of the week. Well, actually, it’s the only day of the week that I really and truly care about because, well, NCIS is on. And really, what better reason is there?

When I woke up this morning, my son devil child was in my face telling me how he wanted to be Gibbs and proceeded to shove a water pistol in my face. I nearly smacked him upside the head, but I resisted, instead telling him that he looked more like Tony with his ‘season one Tony hair’ that he had goin’ on.

For the rest of the day he’s been calling himself Tony.

When we met up with my sister and Nana, he couldn’t help but notice my sister’s new sunglasses and he just had to try them on, so I took a cute little pic of him.

Adorable, right? So, after that fiasco, he decided that he needed his own pair of sunglasses.

They’re too big for his head, but he likes them so I guess that’s all that really matters. 😀

Brenden Tony lived up to his name today at lunch too. He decided that both of the big breasted waitresses wanted to know all about his new sunglasses and his stuffed cat, Spot. So much so that it was preventing him from eating his food because he was too interested in where they were in position to our table so that he could try to get their attention every time they passed.

Brenden Tony never ceases to amaze me. 😀

Until next time!

Here’s To Another Uneventful Friday…

•March 12, 2010 • 3 Comments

So, I spent yet another Friday night at home on my laptop, and what made it worse? No NCIS. I know what you’re thinking.

“You own the DVD’s, why don’t you just watch those?”

But I have to admit that my life is much less complicated when I just let USA decide what episodes I get to watch. 😀

In Brenden News…

As I was getting him ready to go home from my Nana’s house tonight, he decided that he was going to run across the street without informing anyone. There weren’t any cars on the street, seeing as it was 9 PM, but it’s the principle of the matter that counts. Needless to say, I swatted his little butt and he cried, but I’m good with it.

He did go to bed as soon as we got home. So that’s a plus.

Tomorrow’s a new day, so we’ll see how much my Saturday sucks.

Until then…

Chinese Food and Sister-talk

•March 10, 2010 • Leave a Comment

So, to preface this blog, a few weeks ago, my Nana asked me to have a discussion with my sister about birth control. I didn’t mention it to her, because in my head I had absolutely no interest whatsoever in having that conversation with my younger sister.

That being said, Sam and I took Brenden out to lunch today at the local Chinese food place, and we started talking boyfriends. Mostly me talking, her listening, despite the fact that she was the one who brought up the conversation. It’s not very often that she and I get to sit around without my Aunt or Nana around to just talk about girl stuff, so we took advantage.

Now, don’t get me wrong. At one point I did love the father of my son, though I don’t know that I can say that anymore and still be honest with myself. The past three years have been really tough, and I think I’ve finally realized that it’s much easier when I don’t worry about what he thinks, especially since he doesn’t take my thoughts and feelings into consideration before doing anything. So, somehow this talk meltdown I was having with my younger, clearly more stable sister turned from whether or not she was sleeping with her boyfriend of the last 1.5 years or not to how I have come to the conclusion that I don’t need a man to make me happy and that I’m sick of my family being so judgmental.

This is getting really angsty and for that I apologize. LOL

Anyway, the moral to the story is that I basically told my sister to ignore my family, and that if she is happy with her boyfriend that it doesn’t matter what they think. And I realized that I no longer care if my boyfriend ex sleeps with my best friend and totally severs the relationship I once had with her, her husband, and her kids, because he’s just a fucktard anyway. Excuse the language.

On a happier note, I got a pretty revealing fortune cookie message.

Until next time…

Lunch With the Fam

•March 9, 2010 • 1 Comment

Sometimes I wonder why I torture myself with dealing with my family. They do nothing but manage to make me wanna pull my hair out. I wish my sister would have her own kid so I can treat them as shitty as she treats Brenden. It really makes me want to throw her against the wall.

She makes such a huge deal when I try to discipline *my* son, then gets pissed off when I back off and get all moody. Okay, that’s enough of my ranting for today. Hopefully I’ll come back later with a happier post!

Until then…

NCIS’ Bunny Brenden

•March 8, 2010 • 1 Comment

I have returned for a second blog post! Go me! 🙂 So, my BFFL Britty has informed me that I just *have to* post this pic of my son that I took the other day at Target, so I’m gonna see if it’ll work.

Okay, I think that’s it. LOL

In other news, Brenden has officially come around to the idea of being ‘Tony’ instead of ‘Gibbs’ when he runs around with his little squirt gun telling everyone to put their hands up as he shouts “NCIS!”, delegating the task of being Gibbs to my Papa. It’s actually fairly amusing, and I am pleased that I am one step closer to having a Tony to go with my Abby costume this Halloween. I still have 7 more months to work on it. We’ll see.

Until next time

Here Goes Nothin’…

•March 8, 2010 • 2 Comments

I’ve been considering doing a blog for quite some time, but I never thought that I had anything that was worth blogging about until my BBFL Britty reminded me that I have a son who is endlessly entertaining and that I should blog about his daily adventures.

So, here goes nothin’!

And he’s right on time. He just came back from the walk he took with his favorite Uncle (my Uncle Bruce) and the first thing he did was bring me a flower he picked while he was outside. 😀 It’s a cute little purple flower that he insisted I put right on my computer so that I could see it. I think his intention is to make sure that I don’t try to get rid of it when he’s not looking, but I’ll never know for sure.

Did I mention that my crazy kid LOVES NCIS with a passion that is beyond anything I’ve ever seen from a 3 year-old? Yeah, he’ll sit down and watch it with me, even going as far as to ask questions about the plot. I don’t know if he really cares, but he really loves the theme song.

Maybe one of these days I’ll post a video of it. Heh.

Until next time, hope you enjoyed it!
